The latest version from Adobe is 9.0.124.0 not 10.0.1.218 as the Software Informer specifies.

My sister has a Laptop with Vista Home Basic on it, and has no problem running a Flash Player Plugins, ActiveX and Standalone

you should have an option of choosing to use a beta version, and not get annoying updates balloons when you have the latest
version.
personally I don't use beta versions because they are unstable and I don't want to be a software tester for the big corporations

Altho I don't think you should install flash as of yet as it probably needs more development!
